Description: | |
Key Functions: CFD Combustion Project Leader has leadership as well as technical delivery role having key functions as below: • Project Delivery: (60% of time) The key aspect of the project engineer will be do deliver on CFD projects for combustion modeling. State of the art commercial tools like Ansys FLUENT, STAR- CCM+ needs to be used for executing the simulations. • Capability Building: The engineers need to develop capabilities in terms of use of advanced models, automation, development of best practices as well as establishing connection with other lower order modeling tools. This process is continuous to ensure we are aware of the latest trends and stay ahead of competition •Team Leadership: (40% of time) Lead a combustion group of three to five engineers. He will be responsible for timely delivery and invoicing. Preform the resource planning, decide modeling strategies for all projects. Make sure the quality and accuracy of the results. Job Responsibilities: Project Delivery: • Deliver on combustion modeling projects using computational fluid dynamic based formulations. Execute the project from preparation of geometry to simulation to post processing and preparation of report. • State of the art commercial tools like Ansys-FLUENT, STAR-CCM+ are to be used for the project delivery. Prior exposure and experience in handling these tools is assumed. Limited on project training will be provided as well. • Developing a strategy for combustion model and addition of complexity in a stage wise manner is the key. Interpretation of results for combustion system and analyzing the data is equally important. The engineer needs to take special effort need in that direction. • The project success needs to be ensured by delivering quality output in a timely manner. Ability to put long hours as and when needed is expected to ensure project success. • Combustion simulations need high end compute resource as well as many large parallel license keys. The engineer needs to ensure correctness of the simulation so that there is no negative impact on the project delivery in terms of exceeding the delivery time lines or crossing planned hardware & software resources. • Work with other team members who may contribute in terms of geometry or mesh preparation in time crunch modes as required. Guiding them with clear set of instructions is required as part of team effort. • Track and manage the progress on project in terms of deliverables and provide regular updates to the team manager. • Take overall responsibility for customer engagement for project delivery. Attend all project meetings with the customer to ensure smoother delivery along with customer success. • Consulting business is cyclic and it important to keep that in mind. The engineer needs to be open to work on noncombustion project as per the company requirements. Capability Building: • Develop best practices for combustion simulations in terms of overall approach, meshing practices, choice of turbulence model, better initialization, schemes to be used, convergence strategies, etc. • Focus on advanced models such as LES, use of actual species with multiple levels of reactions, etc. Keep track of all new aspects and development plans for commonly used commercial tools. • Understand the integration with other tools, lower order models, etc. This will help to develop faster models and generate quick understanding of the system. Team Leadership: • Plan resources • Write proposals for different combustion modeling problems • Guide and coach, the team members • Schedule calls with clients wherever necessary to make a smooth communication Key Competencies: • Ability to define and solve CFD problem in combustion space • Technically sound in heat transfer, mass transfer and reactions • Excellent Written and Oral Communication skills • Ability to interpret, present and defend the results with a customer • Professional, self-motivated and Accountable Education / Experience: • Master’s (with three to eight years of experience) or PhD (with four year of experience) from Chemical/Mechanical or Aerospace engineering discipline from reputed Institute. • Experience in performing CFD based combustion analysis is required. Experience with gas fired burners, preheaters, boilers is preferred. • Relevant coursework or educational background in Combustion, Kinetics, Chemical Thermodynamics, Reacting Gas Dynamics and Heat Transfer is a must. Advanced knowledge of combustion principles, Heat Transfer aspects will be an added advantage. • Should be proficient in handling Ansys tools like FLUENT, Spaceclaim, AMP, etc. • Should be a team player with ability to interact and work in a team environment. Should be able to deliver on projects with strict deadlines. |
