Ph.D. studentships in computational gas dynamics and heat transfer, 
aerothermodynamics, rarefied gases, multi-phase flows, electric aircraft, space 
system engineering, quantum algorithms for nonlinear PDEs

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Gyeongsang National 
University (Jinju, South Korea) has new opportunities (Ph.D. & integrated MS-PhD 
studentships) in aerospace, mechanical engineering, or applied mathematics.

The positions will be supported by multi-year research projects of the Aerospace 
Computational Modeling Laboratory. We are looking for Ph.D. candidates with a 
background in aerospace/mechanical engineering or applied mathematics, 
especially computational (compressible) gas dynamics. They will work on 
aerothermodynamics, rarefied gases, multi-phase flows, electric aircraft, space 
system engineering, modeling of compressible turbulence, quantum algorithms for 
fluid dynamics, and CFD such as developing associated FVM/DG/OpenFOAM/Quantum 
codes.

The candidates will be supervised by Professor/Director R. S. Myong 
(myong@gnu.ac.kr). The studentships are available from March 2025. (Deadline 5 
November 2024 for internet application submission for the spring semester, 
2025.)
