Dear Colleagues,

The Center for Predictive Engineering and Computational Sciences (PECOS) in the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin is searching for Postdoctoral Scholars interested in the quantification of uncertainty in the numerical simulation of complex physical systems, particularly an inductively coupled plasma torch. They will join a multi-disciplinary project aimed at developing advanced capabilities in mathematical modeling, uncertainty quantification, computational algorithms and high-performance computing, and will pursue research in such topics as: multifidelity and multilevel Monte Carlo algorithms, reduced order modeling, input uncertainty characterization through Bayesian inference and validation under uncertainty and will deploy these techniques to UQ problems in plasma applications. 

A strong background in UQ, probability, statistics and scientific software development is required.  Applicants must have a Doctorate in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field. Candidates with experience in UQ for complex physical applications are preferred.
