Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position: Transient Moving Body Simulation CFD Capabilities with Overset Mesh

Project Title: "Transient Moving Body Simulation CFD Capabilities with Overset Mesh in an Unstructured Grid Framework"

This project, funded by the Space Science Promotion – 2792, Respond Scheme, ISRO, aims to develop an overset grid algorithm within an existing in-house or open-source CFD code. The goal is to enable accurate simulations of moving bodies in complex geometries, with real-world applications in aerospace and other engineering domains.

Position Details

• Role: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
• Duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance)
• Fellowship/Salary: ₹37,000 per month + 10% HRA (as per GoI norms)
• Location: IIT Patna, with possible travel to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), ISRO, Thiruvananthapuram during later stages of the project for algorithm implementation.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications:

• B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer Science, or related fields with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks.
• Must have qualified through GATE/NET or a national-level examination conducted by central government institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DRDO, ISRO, IITs, etc.
• Candidates from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) with a CGPA > 8.0 (out of 10) are exempt from the GATE requirement.

Age Limit:

• Max. 28 years for candidates with B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. as their highest qualification.
• Max. 32 years for candidates with M.E./M.Tech/MS as their highest qualification.
• Relaxation as per GoI norms for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Persons with Disabilities (PD).

Preferred Expertise:

• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
• Aerospace applications
• Code development in C/C++
• Numerical methods for fluid dynamics

Selected candidates will also have the opportunity to apply for the Ph.D. program at IIT Patna through the institute's standard admission process.
