Position description
Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PRF) positions in
Marine Offshore Hydrodynamics. The successful applicants will be part of an
active research team led by Dr Xingya Feng, Assistant Professor in the
Department of Ocean Science and Engineering at the Southern University of
Science and Technology in Shenzhen, China. You will be working collaboratively
with the Ocean Engineering Group members in the department led by Prof Jianfei
Chen, Chair Professor. You will have opportunities to work with the team
collaborators from the National University of Singapore and Hong Kong PolyU.

Qualification
The PRF position is immediately available for candidates to conduct research
under the projects on “Hydrodynamic analysis of Very Large Floating
Structures” or “Nonlinear wave loads on offshore wind turbine monopiles in
extreme waves”. Each appointment will be for two years with possible extension.
Job Description:
• Offshore hydrodynamics
• Wave theory and wave modelling
• Loads and motions analysis of floating structures
• Fluid-structure interactions
• Numerical simulation of wave-body interaction using potential flow
and/or CFD models
Postdoctoral Research Fellow:
1. A PhD degree (or near completed) in Civil, Offshore/Ocean, Coastal,
Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Mathematics; priority will be given to those
who have experiences in Hydrodynamics.
2. Ability to perform independent research and a commitment to
interdisciplinary research;
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated by
presentation of research results at conferences and through publications;
4. Excellent programming skills (Matlab, C++, Fortran, Python…)
5. Experiences with Hydrodynamics and potential flow theory are desired but
not essential.
Salary package
1. Basic salary is RMB330K-350K/annual (including a tax-free 180,000/annual
allowance from Shenzhen government, compensated after passing an evaluation);
Excellent candidate can apply for President Fellowship with salary
RMB500,000/annual;
2. Foreign passport (some) holder could apply for tax exemption.
3. Medical insurance package, pension and other staff benefits;
4. House renting allowance every month of RMB2800/month;
5. International conference fee in two years of RMB20,000.
