McNaughton, Technical Director at Roush Yates Engines, 
discusses how his team uses CONVERGE in the design and 
development of their powertrain technology, including the 
intake manifolds, cylinder head ports, exhaust systems, 
intake systems, and engine cooling. He highlights how they 
use CONVERGE to improve their engine’s gas exchange process, 
primarily by addressing intake manifold flow losses, tuning 
the manifold, and modeling exhaust systems. CFD provides 
Roush Yates with a level of design detail that cannot be 
otherwise achieved, giving them advantages on the track.
